Indian batter Virat Kohli scored a sensational century against Afghanistan in the ongoing T20 Asia Cup 2022 here at the Dubai International Stadium on Thursday.

Kohli, who smashed a 61-ball 122 against Afghanistan, last scored a century came against Bangladesh in the second Test of the two-match series on November 23, 2019. He scored a knock of 136 runs in that match.

Since then 1021 days passed, the batter wasn't able to score a single century until today.

With Rohit Sharma out of the lineup, Kohli opened the batting and quickly shared the first wicket with KL Rahul before going off the deep end to reach the significant milestone.

While Kohli had never reached the three-figure mark for India in this format despite having 32 scores of fifty or more in T20Is, he did so in just 53 balls to put India in the lead.

India posted a formidable 212/2 batting first, the biggest total in the Asia Cup 2022 competition so far, thanks to Kohli's 61-ball 122.
